World Vegetarian Day, October 1, is the annual kick-off of Vegetarian Awareness Month. Make a difference this October by informing others about the benefits of vegetarianism. You will be helping to create a better world because vegetarian diets have proven health benefits, save animals’ lives and help to preserve the Earth.
Every single meatless meal can help:
• Reduce the risk of major killers such as heart disease, strokes and cancers while cutting exposure
to foodborne pathogens;
• Provide a viable answer to feeding the world’s hungry through more efficient use of grains and other crops;
• Save animals from suffering in factory-farm conditions and from the pain and terror of slaughter;
• Conserve vital but limited freshwater, fertile topsoil and other precious resources;
• Preserve irreplaceable ecosystems such as rainforests and other wildlife habitats;
• Decrease greenhouse gases that are accelerating global warming;
• Mitigate the ever-expanding environmental pollution of animal agriculture.

A vegetarian meal can be as simple as pasta with tomato sauce or an egg & cheese omelet or a bowl of tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich.
It doesn't have to be complicated or confusing. Just google 'vegetarian recipes' for a plethora of ideas!
There are so many great meat substitute out there to help your transition. Quorn products are just about my favorite. Their chick'n patty is SO good! Even my kids love them. You would never know its not chicken. They are soy-free-made from microprotien. Read all about it here.
I think it's fun to try new food products-pick out something new at the store & give it a try.
Oh and by the way, October also just happens to be my one year anniversary of being Vegetarian! One day I just stopped eating meat. It was that easy.
