Then I looked past him to under that tree. There was a table & 2 chairs set up. After saying our hellos, we walked back to the table where he had quite the layout. He got food from Stino da Napoli. He knows the owner so they hooked him up. And since he knows me so well, there was plenty of wine. There were real dishes & silverware & wine glasses. He had bought a radio so we could play CD's, but it didn't seem to work right, so we listened to classical music & danced on the pier. I remember thinking, I wonder, where is my giant present if he needed a truck to haul it?
Soon after dinner, the sun was setting. Brian launched into this long talk about something and I kind of thought, what is he talking about? The only thing I remember him saying is "I could have fun with you in a Turkish prison camp". And I laughed. Then he got up and came over to me, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Lots of laughing & carrying on ensued of course. I called my sister & some friends. (He brought an extra phone battery for me, just in case.) He then told me all about how his sister and D (who was 6 at the time) had helped him carry all the stuff down to the beach and had to hurry up and get out of there because I was on my way. It was pretty much pitch black when we packed everything up & hauled it all back up the steps to our cars. That would be the non-romantic part! Haha.
He's given me some great birthday presents throughout the years, obviously this one was the best!
So to all you people out there who don't know me in real life, today is my birthday. I am now 38!
