A book review (of sorts ) and a change

Last night (technically this morning) I finished See you in a Hundred Years. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to delete this blog & Facebook page and only use my computer when necessary for work. Never fear, this morning, when I stumbled out to my computer, I snapped back to reality.

The book is narrated by Logan Ward who along with his wife and baby decide to live in 1900 for one year. As in they could use nothing that was invented after that year. The stand outs are obviously, electricity and indoor plumbing. I mean, good for them, but wow.

At the end he realizes what he thought was a better way of life-leaving this high pressured rat race, giving up all modern conveniences turns out to be much harder than he thought. But also, by the end of their year, they have grown to love certain things about living simply & appreciate some things they really don't want to live without ever again. Hot showers & medical attention at the top of the list of course.

Mostly, what I took away from the book was there can be a really good balance between the simple life & modern conveniences. I think we trap ourselves sometimes into a life we think we should have instead of a life we actually want. I'm working to create a life that I want. I really love blogging and all the fun things that go along with it, but I feel its time to change it up a bit. I spend loads & loads of time on this here computer. Sometimes (not today) I only move to go to the bathroom & get more coffee. From 9-5. I would like that to stop. Its not just the blog-its my real job, too. Its really my own obsessiveness that drives me. So, I have made a decision to not blog every day. Quality over quantity and all that.  Plus school is starting, I've got a bathroom to remodel for the 'grandma move in' & lots of other things (& people) needing my attention. The very least I will blog is once a week, but honestly, I've got lots to say, so it will probably be more than that!

I hope you have me in your feeds or Google Readers so you know when I post. Don't forget to 'like' me on Facebook so you'll know too! I appreciate you sticking with me! I have lots of fun things in store for the future! See you soon!
