Weekend Wrap-up (7/17-7/18)

Friday night Sue stopped by for some wine & brie.
Yes I drink my wine spritzer out of a plastic cup. I'm that classy.
Sue also brought with her the makings for an awesome pizza! But I'm not going to say too much about it, you'll have to wait for her post, but I'll give you a little tease.

D called while he was out midnight golfing to tell us he got a hole in one! We are so excited for him! They play with really cool glow balls that light up when you hit them.

After D got home & Sue left, my sister called to say that she was at her friend's birthday party at the Blind Pig and I should come dance! So being the wonderful husband that he is, Brian drove me downtown at 11:30 at night I could have some with my sister! We danced and had a great time of course. She drove me home & slept over.

Saturday morning we got up and lounged a bit. Brian went to Presto Sandwiches to get us all lunch. BabyGirl wasn't feeling so great, so she just got soup. Bubba got his usual-the Irish & got my usual also, the VegHead. Brian got his favorite lobster bisque & I stole a few bites. You know to make sure it was ok for him. Presto's never disappoints & I highly recommend it!
We ate so much for our late lunch no one was hungry for dinner. Since we were going to a carnival, I figured if anyone was hungry they could just eat there. I myself had fries with lots of vinegar & ketchup. Mmm. And of course the fresh squeezed lemonade is a must every time. No sign of cheese on a stick though. The search continues!
The kids rode some rides & played games. I think some of these game owners have smartened up a bit & now the majority of the games have a 'prize every time' sign. I didn't see any empty games at all, which used to be very common. So yes, I paid $2 for Silly Bands instead of $1 just so Bubba could shoot at cups to 'win'. It was obviously worth it-he was so happy. BabyGirl won two prizes. She loves her stuffed animals like they are her children!

It was starting to rain a little so we decided to leave before the downpour. We got home just in time. I was exhausted so I went to bed at 11 and slept until 11 this morning. Clearly, I was behind on my sleep.

I lounged around for a bit, had some coffee & then got ready to go to the Taste of Tremont

I went with my sister and her boyfriend & he kindly modeled my veggie taco and lemonade from Lucky's Cafe. The taco was incredibly delicious! Sadly, that was the only stand I got to sample from-it was way too hot & the lines were really long.

It was ridiculously hot walking around, so we went to sit somewhere in the air to eat. Of course every place was full, so we walked over to the South Side & had a seat on the patio. When I ate meat, I regularly dreamt of their duck & goat cheese salad. This time however, I got to try something new, the portabella gyro. It was really good but the definite highlight of this gyro is the wasabi cucumber sauce. Oh my.  It was really filling and I had no room left for my side salad.
While walking back to the Taste, we ran into a friend of mine who was house sitting for a local chef. He took us to the backyard and I was immediately jealous. (Incidentally, this house is right behind the house that Brian lived in when we started dating.)

Check out the size of that dill plant!
Homegrown watercress-I guess its grown in running water. I tasted a little leaf, my first time. Its good, I'll have to get some.
The neighbors' back fence is made up of old doors & windows & even an old medicine cabinet-so cool.
This is the neighbor's chicken coop
Its not even remotely realistic with my kids being the age they are, but I want to move to Tremont! I've been wanting to for years, actually. Ten more years. I'll probably be too old by then!

Brian sent me this article about urban gardens in Cleveland. Obviously, they are taking over! Its really interesting, check it out if you have a minute.

That wraps up my weekend. I hope yours was fun filled as well! I have to shower & get things ready for the upcoming week. See you in the AM!
