I do not subscribe to 'everything will kill you'. Even if that's true, I'm certainly not going to help it along! I will fight the good fight as long as I can!
I'm a huge fan of the SkinDeep website. It gives you a rating on makeup, skincare, haircare & beauty products in general. Just type your product into the search bar & off you go. What if its not listed? You can search individual ingredients too. Think I'm crazy? Here's an example of a harmless seeming product. This is the moisturizer I used to use: Its rated a 7 out of 10-Not Good.
IF YOU DON'T READ ANY OF THIS POST-READ THIS PART AT LEAST!!! PLEASE?

Biochemical or cellular level changes? WTF-you mean this can change the cells in my body-that cannot be good!
Since our skin is our biggest organ, I now try to keep to the most all natural products. I've always been a bit of a product whore, so trying new things is still fun. But its hard to find natural products that actually work really well & as my friend said, don't smell like dirt. I read every label and try to make the best choice. So, here's what I've been using:
Burt's Bees products are good and are getting better all the time. They even have the 'natural percentage' listed right on the label. I recently tried their toothpaste & I am in love! Their products are everywhere in my house from handsoap to repair serum to bug repellant. I love them & I love what they do.Its my go-to baby shower gift-BabyBee basket which I get at Target. Do you think they're hiring? (Burts Bees, not Target)
Anyway...
In my makeup bag:
PurMinerals pressed powder foundation-this is the best powder foundation I have ever used. And with a very short ingredient list, its even better. I don't wear foundation in the summer because I'm tan and the sun clears up my face, so this lasts me a long time. Its also the most expensive makeup product I own. At $25, that's not bad. Ulta also recently had a buy one get one sale-don't think I didn't race there immediately! I have some of their eyeshadows, but I don't wear it everyday, I usually just dust bronzer on my lids.
Physician's Formula Organic Wear mascara-Target just had a buy one get one free sale, so I bought them out! 2 for $9, yes please! And it has the same brush as CoverGirl Lash Exact-which is what I used to wear-without all the gross chemicals.
I also use Organic Wear's bronzer.
Eyeliner is also Organic Wear, but I also use Honeybee Gardens found at Nature's Bin. I like it a lot.
Next up, skincare:
Bodywash: Dr. Bronner's Liquid castile soap in Almond. Over 101 uses. I washed clothes with this stuff! Great soap, great company. That's it!
Body lotion: I don't really use any, I mostly use oil after my shower if I remember. I should, my skin is like the Sahara, but I'm really lazy.
Skincare. Now this is a long subject. I keep trying lots and lots of different products-I like to change it up. Right now I'm enjoying Yes to Cucumbers. I bought a little sampler pack & really like the moisturizer and eye gel. I also really like their leave in hair conditioner. And their makeup removing wipes & cleansing gel. Most of my skin products change constantly, so I can't really tell you about one in particular. Just know that they are the most natural I can find. These seem to be very promising, so they might make it into permanent rotation. I'd also like to try their shampoo & conditioner. Speaking of which, right now my hair is a tradgedy, so we're not going to talk about it at this time. Whenever it gets back to normal, I'll let you know what miracle product that it. Although Moroccan Oil
Sunscreen is a whole different story, I don't like it. But when I have to, I use Burt's Bees-which is 99.11% natural!! After a day in the sun, we use their After Sun lotion-99.5% natural. I also have a stick by Kiss My Face. That's it. Thank god we're Italian & Indian!
That's about it I guess, I hope it helps somebody out there! Most importantly-read labels & check the SkinDeep database! And don't forget-kids bodies are way more susceptible to harmful chemicals than adults! Be Safe!
