Remember these?
They were very strong & garlicky-just like I like! I sliced them up and sauteed them for a bit in EVOO to take away the bite.
I've had this cheese from Costco forever. I have 2 more packs just like this one!
The cheese & garlic were perfect with egg whites. I used the yolk to make the kids' breakfast.
We worked around the house a bit & ran some errands and then went to my MIL's to meet part of the family. We hung out there for awhile & went to meet the rest of the family at their hotel. The Residence Inn is really a great place, all the rooms are suites so there's lots of room for everyone. The kids swam in the pool & we got takeout Cheescake Factory for dinner. They have a great room there to eat in.
I got the portabella on a bun (sorry no picture). It was possibly the biggest mushroom I've ever seen-I ate almost all of it. The kids got pizza and D got the meatloaf dinner as usual. I tasted my FIL's sherpard's pie-it was good-it had an underlying rosemary flavor. That's the good thing about that place, they have a wide variety to make everybody happy. The bad things? They forgot my salad & even worse, my nephews' noodles had some sort of metal shard in it-not good. We all know things happen, but its a good thing they caught it! We hung out for while & came home to watch some Boomerang in bed-I was exhausted.
This (Sunday) morning, I woke up to cooler temperatures-66 degrees-which was a nice cool off. We had work to do on the kitchen if we ever expect it to be finished! We have friends coming in in August and it make seem far off, but there's still a lot of little things to be done & since we work all week, we need to get as much accomplished on the weekends as possible. We still have 2 more countertops to do-one of them being the sink. That's the hardest, we still haven't settle on the best way to do it, but I think we're getting close. I taped off the trim so I could stain it since we were finally able to get it yesterday! I've been waiting since February!
Well after the first coat of stain, I realized that it would take about 12,000 coats to finish it. Obviously the stain wasn't good, so Brian went & had some matched while I cleaned up and its looking better! The 3rd counter top is setting and my BIL from Chicago is going to be here next weekend to help with the sink counter.
D hung hooks for towels & potholders
I cleaned off the table finally.
New island-like it? Its custom-haha. The dishwasher needs to be installed still obviously but for now its our island.
I painted the door. I am the worst painter ever! Brian had to keep cleaning up my spills.
Brian painted the more delicate window trim. I can't even imagine how bad I would have done!
Dinner needed to be simple & it was. I found this bag of frozen veggies Brian bought in the freezer. Throw some veggie Italian sausages & dogs in the microwave & dinner is done!
Healthy? Maybe not but it got the job done. I can redeem myself this week!
Tonight, The Next Food Network Star is on & D and I are ready! Until then, more laundry & household chores & getting ready for school tomorrow. Have a great night-see you tomorrow!
