There is no shame in using canned or boxed soup. I have no issue with making my own soup sometimes, but for a quick dinner, some pre-made delicious soup does the job. And with a few added touches, your bowl of soup can go from simple to suburb in minutes.
Now up on Put in Bay, they have there famous Lobster Bisque, which you can get in a bread bowl. Yum. So of course, I thought tomato soup in a cheesy bread bowl would kind of be a cross between that and tomato soup with grilled cheese! How can that be bad?
Slice out the middle of your bowl. Mine are rectangular & I just followed the lines.
Stuff with shredded cheddar.
Bake till cheese is melted & bread is crispy on the outside.
Meanwhile, heat your soup on the stove.
Place your bread into a shallow soup bowl to catch the overflow. Pour in and around the bread and serve.
This dinner was a big hit all around. Albeit the bread was a little difficult to eat. Maybe a less crusty bread would be better. Its certainly not the healthiest, but for a quick dinner that everyone likes, its a hit!
