Time for a change

We're making a little change around here. As you know, I choose & cook all of our meals. Sometimes it goes over really well, sometimes not so much. Tonight I made Asian Stew-much to everyone's (except my) dismay. No one liked it but me. Fine I'll eat it for lunch the rest of the week. Whatever. So at dinner tonight, I came up with a new idea-there are 5 days in the week and there are 5 of us! I know-mindboggling! So each person now gets a day to choose what we have. I get veto power of course & the little ones are pretty easy to sway, so I think it will work out ok. We shall see. Starting next week our meals will be chosen like this:

Monday~Mommy
Tuesday~D
Wednesday~Daddy
Thursday~Bubba (I'm sure BFD will still be in effect)
Friday~BabyGirl

On the weekends, its kind of a free for all as far as meals go. In the winter I usually make a big pot of chili or spaghetti or soup. It works well for us.

Anyway, want to hear about my Asian Stew that I loved? Well its really easy. I adapted it from this book.

It starts with a base of veggie stock & to it you add: red pepper, bok choy chopped including the green tops, green onions, garlic, mushrooms, shredded carrots, water chestnuts, brown rice, baby peas, chinese five spice powder, garlic powder, pepper & soy sauce. Simmer all together until the veggies are kind of soft-not too soft. I beat up 2 eggs and streamed them into the simmering liquid and stirred them in. Top your bowl with toasted sesame oil & sesame seeds.
