The September Issue

I don't get fashion. I don't even remotely understand runway creations-the wire hanger models with their giant hair and whited out features draped in what looks like the curtains from The China Room of the White House.  Or what I imagine them to look like.

Last night I watched one of the many great scenes from "The Devil Wears Prada" in which Miranda explains (quietly of course) to Andy exactly how and why the 'lumpy' sweater she is wearing came to be. It was a lesson for everyone who is not into fashion, but I still don't fully grasp any of it. Carrie in Sex and the City? The kindest words I had for her outfits were usually, "Well, its not totally awful." I usually thought she looked ridiculous. See, I told you I don't get it!

Vogue goes way over my fashion-challenged head. But my ever renewing InStyle subscription is my bible. Real women read InStyle. Fashionistas (and I imagine many a fashion victim) read Vogue. Although I do buy the September issue every year-its just eye candy.

Today, my 600 page September issue of InStyle came in the mail and I'm already planning my special evening with it! In the coming days, I will be picking up all the September issues! Then, when they're all in-I take to my bed with a big mug of tea, spread all of them around me and blissfully spend the whole night taking it all in. The clothes, the shoes, THE BAGS! I love fall so much & cannot wait!
Soon, layers of cute jackets, thin cozy sweaters & BOOTS will be coming out of the dark recesses of my closet! My winter purses will be dusted off and comfy socks will be worn again. Slippers will once again be part of my daily uniform.

What does this remotely have to do with food? Nothing really. Except autumn is on the horizon. Football, clambakes, picnics & hay rides at the apple farm, fires on the deck for toasting marshmallows in a big sweatshirt, spiced cider, etc. My list goes on and one. I am a much better cook in fall & winter. Lots of comfort food! Casseroles, crock pot dinners, baked goods.

I just wanted you to know that The Wellness War is going to get better and better in the coming months and I'm so happy you're here with me!
