Traveling (with me)

I can honestly say that no one likes to travel with me. I'm a huge pain. Ask my sister whose dashboard froze-I mean a layer of ice across it-because I could not get 'cool' on our way to Akron one August. I don't really like to drive, I prefer to lounge. With my feet up. I hate to travel, but I like being in the car all snuggled up with my pillow and a blanket. Figure that out. If I could teleport to my destinations, that would be my dream superpower. I mean being invisible would have its perks, sure. But teleportation-OMG! Oh and I want to be able to take my whole house with me when I teleport. Ok, moving on.
It rained ALL THE WAY there! It slowed a couple of times, but never stopped. It kind of sucked, but we dealt with it. Now, we as travelers are stoppers. We have no problem stopping often. Which is why we stopped after just 50 minutes on the road. Who does that? Brian wanted food, I needed the bathroom, so we stopped at a Travel Center. I love Travel Centers!
I stocked up on fun reading material. These will be perfect for a 'stay-cation'. Well they would have been if I hadn't spilled pop all over them. It happens.
Anyway, I got some snacks from AuBon Pain. Kinda pricey. Brian got a southwest tuna wrap (not pictured) in honor of the weekend. I ate the other half of it at yet another stop. It was good. (Yes, I am an eater. I can pack it away. I think I eat more than Brian does-and that's not because I eat all his food! I know you were thinking it!)
Shortly thereafter we arrived in PA!
It took forever to get there. I actually did drive for the second leg-gripping the wheel the whole time. Pennsylvania roads are hilly and narrow and very dark. And of course you have cars right on your ass the whole time because they know where they're going and you don't. Its harrowing at best. We finally arrived in the blackness. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is in pretty much the middle of nowhere. We later found that we took the long way around since it was so dark, you couldn't see any signs!

After prying my hand from the steering wheel, we got all checked in. Brian was quietly moaning and mumbling about something the whole way to the room. He wouldn't tell me what he was freaking out about! I should have known.
He thought there would be no TV. Mind you, he had his computer-but no TV. He might have killed me. He was still annoyed that it was so small. I almost killed him.

I didn't go to college, so I never lived in a dorm. Seems fun. I can't wait for D to experience college. Maybe I can go too-like Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield. No?

The ride home was at least in daylight. Bye, Johnstown!
I don't like tunnels at all! Since I was driving I couldn't even freak out a little bit!
We took a bit of a different route home since I wanted to go to Ikea. We hit some traffic by Pittsburgh, so it took even longer, but we finally got there. I only spent $10! For 4 things! Kitchen stuff of course.
I liked it, but I think you need to know your prices, like anywhere really. They had some awesome deals, but some things weren't such a bargain. I love how they have a child care area and a restaurant, so you can spend hours there! Way to keep your customers in your store. And Brian said the food was cheap. He got an ice cream cone for a buck. Then he got another one. I assume cuz it was only a buck.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. Once we left there was no traffic and we made it home quickly. It didn't feel like such a long trip, probably because there were no kids in the car. I love my kids, but god, all the fighting really wears on you especially in a 10 X 5 foot box. We had great conversations the whole way back and I didn't even turn on the radio. If you know me at all, that is unheard of. Obviously the discussions were riveting!

Come back for the FOOD review. What we ate, what I thought and possibly the most anticipated opinion-Brian's.
