Annoyed, but not deterred, we started heading east, contemplating where to go. Brian said he had never been to Johnny's Bar on Fulton, neither had I, so I called and they squeezed us in. I mean literally squeezed-the place is kind of small, but it seemed like a nice atmosphere. I wish the patio shown on their website had been open, but it was a bit chilly for that. My friend warned that's its very expensive. So, if you're thinking of going, be warned. But Brian eyes practically rolled back in his head while eating his steak & potatoes. So, that tells ya something! I had the seafood pasta with big chunks of lobster-mmm. I also had the tiniest piece of Brian's steak-he made me. And I'll say this-the garlic butter on top was delicious and the silky texture of the meat was unlike any I've ever had (and I was a big steak girl), but when it came down to it and I could taste the 'meat' flavor, I realized, I really do not like meat anymore!
And by this point, you can see I have no pictures. The place is so small, I thought whipping out my camera was not a great idea. And you are not allowed to use cellphones-even though I saw plenty of people texting. I probably could have snuck in some pix, but sorry, I did not!
Saturday I went to the Hooley as promised with Sue. I have a few camera pix, but she has real pics on her blog. But here are two from me. It was a great time & I got to hang out a little with a friend of mine who owns a couple of bars on Kamm's. As a matter fact, I ran into quite a few people I knew. Must be the Irish thing.
Sue also introduced me to Jasmine Bakery. I found red lentils there! I told my new friend, Eli, that I would be back this week for some shopping. A great discovery!
Today we have a family party so we'll see how the day goes if I come back or not. Hope you are having a great weekend, too!
