and then the usual suspects-garlic powder, cumin, ground coriander
Its cool how the thicker poaching liquid creates like a little nest for the eggs & the whites don't spread out everywhere. Of course you also have no idea where your egg ends, so you better have a big spoon to scoop 'em out.
Buttered orzo. Tonight I declared it officially my favorite noodle shape!
Someday I won't have a sucky camera and the picture will actually do this deliciousness justice.
And finally, we discussed last night the difference between brown eggs & white eggs. My city slicker boys did not know why they are different colors. Do you? I grew up with chickens so we had our own eggs. Brown eggs. Why were they brown? Our chickens were brown. Actually brownish red. White chickens lay white eggs. They are exactly the same. So now you know, and if you're paying more for your brown eggs just because you think they are better somehow, you've been duped, my friends.
Since we eat lots of eggs around here lately, I'm thinking of signing up for egg delivery all throughout the year from one of the Amish farms at the farmers' market. Now, you know those eggs are everything eggs should be and more!
