Friday night was a super lazy night. BabyGirl & I made MonkeyBread for the first time. It definitely needs some tweaking, but it was really good & all gone by 2 the next day! Bubba had a friend over & when he left the twins just hung out in 'the cave'. D had plans, so he was gone until about midnight. I was in bed and reading by 11. Partier, I know.
(The cave is Bubba's playroom basically. Since BabyGirl gets her own room and the boys share, this is his little getaway place. Most of his toys are in there along with a bed, chair, end table, TV & dvd player. It also has the hot water tank & clothing cubbies & a storage cabinet for beach towels & stuff. The room is in the basement & sits behind the basement kitchen. Brian put carpet in there and Bubba has most of the walls covered with his art work. He loves it and so do we!)
Ok, MonkeyBread. First you buy 4 cans of these gross chemical filled biscuits. Haha, tempting, right?
Separate them out & then cut into 4's.
Roll them into balls & coat with cinnamon sugar.
Place into a greased bundt cake pan.
Then you melt butter with sugar, vanilla & cinnamon & pour over the top. Bake for 30 min.
I looked up some different recipes and some call for dipping each piece in butter then into the cinnamon sugar. I think that might work better. Also, it was still a little raw in the middle, I think it needed about 10 more minutes. We'll definitely make it again though.
Sunday (today) was all about getting stuff done. Brian worked on the countertops, D worked on the garden & I ran around getting ready for the week. I also plan on making & freezing all of the kids sandwiches for their lunches for the week. I used to do that with D and boy, did it save a ton of time!
As for the garden, we got our french drain in, and got the dirt composted. D barely finished when it started downpouring! He kept working though and got it done. Of course now its not even raining. Stupid weather. We picked up some plants & some seeds. I can't even remember all that we got, but I know its a lot of variety. I do know D got corn. We'll see how that does.
Can you even see him? Poor kid in the pouring rain-but geez he gets obsessed. I wonder who he gets that from? Hmm.
Anyway, I made a big pot of chili in honor the rainy, crappy weather. I also figured its the last time until fall to make it & I really wanted some before summer comes.
Those big chunks of orange are frozen sweet potatoes. I found them in the freezer & thought its now or never, so in they went. Actually you can't even taste them.
Ok, so I bought the scoops in hopes that Bubba will actually eat the chili. He eats nothing, so we'll see.
This is my bowl all loaded up. MMMM.
And for dessert-have you Clevelanders ever been to Weber's Custard on W. 204 & Lorain? I personally think it blows away Mitchell's & East Coast Custard. Brian's been going there for years -since he was little, I think. He waits for them to open in the spring! And now he's making flavor suggestions! (Seriously, click over & check out all their flavors!) Ahhh, to be a man and be able to eat ice cream everyday & not gain a ton of weight. He sucks! Anyway, black raspberry is a fav-very smooth & creamy. Roasted banana is quite possibly my all time favorite. When I was pregnant with the twins, Brian used to go get me a giant roasted banana & chocolate custard shake. Oh my it was good. Seriously, that was definitely the highlight of that pregnancy! haha.
I hope your weekend was great also!
This week, I plan on starting some kind of body recharge. I don't know how or what yet, but more to come on that. D & I are having a hang out day tomorrow. Each of my kids gets one 'fun' day during the school year. They get to stay home from school & do something fun! So, with only 6 weeks left, D is taking his tomorrow. I may have to work for a bit, but otherwise, we are hanging out watching movies together all day! I'm excited! I hope I don't have to work!
Oh & I just discovered Google Reader. I am a huge loser, I know!
